Making a difference in pets’ and people’s lives
Last year, Banfield Charitable Trust touched more than 250,000 lives thanks to the generous support of its donors. We do this in one of three ways:
1. we help pet owners struggling to pay for routine and emergency veterinary care for their pets;
2. we run programs that offer compassionate assistance to pet owners including people on fixed incomes, home bound seniors, and the terminally ill;
3. we give grants to organizations that address root causes of surrender and work to keep pets in their current, loving homes.
Here are stories of pets, people and nonprofits we’ve helped.
In 2011, Banfield Charitable Trust distributed more than $1 million in emergency veterinary care funding to struggling pet owners and grants to local nonprofits that are working to prevent pet surrender. Here are a few of the stories of success for pets and their people made possible by donors like you. We love Maggie so much and feel so happy to know she will be taken care of and be in good health. She is the joy of our life. When you are older and live away from family, she is what makes getting up each morning a happy experience.—Lee and Verna from Santaquin, VT
I saved Frankie’s life when he was left alone to die in a foreclosed home. I am disabled, however, every animal’s health matters. Frankie is a boy in every sense—he will slip out of the door at any opportunity. He loves to hide one shoe when I need it to go out!—Daryl from Phoenix, AZ
I am blessed. I live for Chase, and Banfield Charitable Trust allowed me to keep one of my prized possessions healthy and well. I can’t tell you how much this means to me, being disabled. Chase is very loving and extremely intelligent. He can open doors on his own and loves to be by me all the time. He is truly a family member. He is one of the best dogs I ever rescued.—Ross from Natick, MA
Juno is my family. Her BCT Wellness Plan is important because it ensures her health. Juno is the kind of dog who loves life!—Terry from Parma, OH
Sweety is now our baby daughter and life would be empty without her. She is very affectionate and enjoys being with us. My wife and I greatly appreciate the help that the wellness plan has afforded us. God bless you.—Joseph from Chesapeake, VA
At my age, his unconditional love for me is just remarkable. I was in WWII and lost my whole platoon. Hutchie listens to me and comforts me—seemingly understanding what I’m talking about—where as a war story might be a little horrible for a person to hear. Hutchie’s a lot of life extending medication for me!—Buddy from Kansas City, KS
Chloe is so loving and sweet to everyone she meets. We rescued her from a family who couldn’t care for her. Our dogs are very special and a part of our family. Their health and care is important for their happy, long life. Thank you!—Gerry from Scottsdale, AZ
Izzie’s health is important because she is family. Without the BCT plan I could not possibly afford her. She “talks” a lot and gives kisses. I love her so very much. You have enabled my “golden years” to be very happy.—Mary Ann from Henderson, NV
